Being the first group signed to WHITE STRIPE frontman JACK WHITE'S vanity imprint Third Man, the mainstream media hype surrounding WHIRLWIND HEAT has been extensive and well documented. But, the Michigan-based trio have for years been making waves of their own accord in the underground music community, releasing acclaimed singles, contributing tracks to prominent comps and touring alongside kindred spirits ARAB ON RADER and the DIRTBOMBS. Their debut full length, Do Rabbits Wonder? was issued in April and should serve to quiet any doubters, as the record is a bona fide jam. COUNTDOWN are a duo featuring former members of locals ENTERTAINMENT and STARBALL, and in this case offer a new take on seventies German krautrock and American New Wave. One of our favorite new locals, spastic rockers CALL ME LIGHTNING, will open.
